Wereserpents 20:26
We have to go to mighty ocean Unseen unheard the Call to follow Last men on Earth as unique bearers Of serpent code Human will no longer be Wereserpent crawls towards the sea Serpent Masters Highest Creatures They arrived from distant spheres Giant spaceship Lurked among Atlantic deeps Serpent Masters Dark-green Comers They will take the chosen ones But the others Will go mad and soon be gone Human will no longer be Wereserpent dives into the sea Serpent Masters Highest Creatures They do not attack and kill Mental impact Lets the chaos be unleashed Serpent Masters Dark-green Comers They switch on the Artefact Waves of ruin Crumbling cities burn afar Our Masters They call us We feel it And taste the air by tongues Our Masters They call us We feel it Transforming has begun We come to shore of sacral ocean Replaced by scale our skin is molting We creep on sand, half men half reptiles They wait for us... Human will no longer be Wereserpents leave this galaxy

"Take a dive into the deep realms of space with Old Sea and Mother Serpents new release entitled Plutonian.

This fuzz laden record is a measly four songs that amass 1 hour and 18 minutes of heavy stoner doom.

@osamsband have a habit of stretching out their songs and letting them slowly unfold. They take you from a heavy onset of doom to reveal their true nature layer by layer, introducing lead lines or added elements in the mix.

The opening track takes an approach based off of a fuzzy rhythmic passage, and a glorious lead line that pops up from time to time. Eventually the vocals appear in almost a whispered scream, which inherently screams of doom.

This record is heavy and full of crunch, but the beauty of it is the sparing use of clean passages. The first real taste of cleans appears in the opening of the third track - and leads to a slow build of sound and we return to the true nature of this record, dropped down heavy doom chords.

The only real gripe I have with this record is the elongated outro from Subterranean Solstice. I'm a huge fan of long tracks, but a 5-minute outro based off of one reverberated fuzzy note took me out of the experience slightly.

Plutonian is a great mix of pure in your face heavy metal, with a bunch of spaced out elements and intricacies just slightly thrown here and there. Add to that the subtle tempo changes that allow tracks to add pace in their latter stages, and you get a pretty fine record.

"Check out this heavy slice of Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal from Old Sea and Mother Serpent.

A huge sounding album running for 78 minutes. These Russian Doomsters know what they're doing by playing some bleak psychedelic sounds." Outlaws Of The Sun

+full review:
"Russian Progressive Doomsters Old Sea And Mother Serpent new album Plutonian aims high in the Progressive Rock/Metal stakes with an album that runs past the 78 minutes mark. This is a record that is very expansive from the start and sees the band move across the many different creative waves and flows that Doom, Sludge and Stoner Metal have to offer. The record is full of down-tuned and heavy FUZZY sounds that have a really powerful “DIRGE” approach to them.

Old Sea And Mother Serpent don’t make it easy for the listener when experiencing this album. As the 4 tracks offer range from 11 minutes to 25 minutes in length. The songs are structured in a complex way that sees the band play a fine balance of aggressively heavy riffs to the more quieter Post-Rock/Post-Stoner sounds that is quite soulful in places.

The opening song of Wereserpents is extremely flamboyant with it’s delicious use of Distorted Riffs and Progressive Vocals to match. Old Sea And Mother Serpent offer a more standard approach of Doom, Sludge and Stoner Metal against other Russian bands I’ve heard recently and I will say these guys are perhaps one of the best bands from the Russian Doom Metal scene I’ve came across and this song proves why. The different styles of music the band employ here is quite captivating and when the band starts playing a more Psychedelic Drone style of music then that’s where best riffs start to appear.

Second song – The Scrag Temple – has some FUZZ drenched Electric Wizard/Black Sabbath amplifier worship appearing first thing and the music is deeply BASS HEAVY. The music can be quite powerful and deafening so be prepared for a richer and fuller sound being played at high volume levels. The song once again is Progressive and multi-layered with the band playing at their own pace. The atmosphere becomes slightly more volatile and pitch black with the vocals slowly drifting in and out on certain parts of the song.

Old Sea And Mother Serpent carry on this style of music for another 32 minutes on the final two songs of Subterranean Solstice and It Seems We Need Help Of A Wizard. This part of the album may become slightly Over The Top but the band play to their strengths playing more outlandish distorted and violent FUZZIER grooves.

The band could have played some faster riffs here and there. As the slow-paced atmosphere can become tiresome towards the end of the album though there is more than enough great riffs to keep you entertained throughout the epic 78 minute runtime..

If you’re a fan of CONAN, Electric Wizard and Black Sabbath then Plutonian is a record you should seriously start investing your time with.

Excellent and Highly Recommended." Steve Howe

The Chronicnaut Collective review by Noah Nihility Zalve
"Nothing screams Odyssean quite like sinuous serpent appendages writhing as a deluge lashes at the mountainside. You may need to check your fuzz gauge’s warranty after your journey becomes but a thing of the past, for this is heaven for the lovers of all that is “bushy.”

“Wereserpents” and “The Scrag Temple” both take their time evolving and fixate on pulling us into the caliginous ocean depths through the agency of girthy licks. It is not until the later stages of these songs that we see that these serpent riders are capable of creating soundscapes that are musing, and they achieve this via a guitar that isn’t tuned in a sludgy way. I wish they had opted to place that guitar on top of the rest of the instruments more often, for it seems to add some needed respite from the unrelenting clobber fest that the record enacts.

“It Seems We Need Help of a Wizard” is the only number here that I fully enjoy, not least because of the anti-sludgy guitars, which dance with the baleful fuzz harmoniously. That which is achieved by this union is pleasing and brings vigor to the record. No stage of its evolution overstays its welcome. Despite being the most “transient” tune here, it is the most mercurial of the bunch. Ergo, it is the least predictable. It is a meandering adventure.

“Plutonian” is a decent voyage that will primarily appeal to those who are enamored of the likes of “Electric Wizard” and other bands that tend to wring out their fuzzometers until they’re completely bereft.

www.facebook.com/doomedandgloomed Highlights Of January:
"So impressive. Colossal and epic with it’s 78 minutes. But the thing is, it doesn’t feel that long at all, because this is an extremely well composed album. Plutonian is an endless flow of cool riffs, both as asphyxiatingly heavy stoner doom and more low-key atmospheric doom. I’m so glad I found this, because no one seems to write about it. Let’s change that now."

www.rotation11.com review:
"Crank this to 9 of 11 - Editors' Pick

Track Overview:
1. Wereserpents (20:26)
A tremendous opening song that flows with drowning sludge and ominous doom. Vocals remind us of Kirk Windstein of Crowbar fame.

2. The Scrag Temple (25:42) Standout Track
More downtrodden psychedelic doom. One would think that after 45 minutes of heavy sludge on the first two songs is tiresome... hell no, this is some mesmerizing shit. Plus, we love the slight vocal change. Just when you thought the song carries on with this spiraling doom, they introduce a sweet stoner doom vibe in last 4 minutes... amazing!

3. Subterranean Solstice (21:19)
21 more minutes of beautiful psych doom. This one is instrumental and will whisk you away.

4. It Seems We Need Help of a Wizard (11:00)
Another blistering heavy instrumental with some upbeat stoner vibes. Look out at the 4:47 mark of the song, the tempo changes into some amazing stoner doom vibe with addicting galloping riffs. Some of the finest stoner metal we have heard early in this year.

Album Nuggets
Plutonian has a mammoth production, you would never know this is a two-piece band.

4 tracks running at a whopping 78:17 minutes and does not tire out what so ever.

Recorded, mixed & mastered in January- June 2019 at 4ymak Records by Alex Chumakov.

Brew Pairing
We are going with a sea creature theme here. Pick up some Lord Octopus by Hop Butcher For The World Brewing in Illinois. This 7.5% IPA is very crisp and and tropical, a great sidekick while drowning in the heavy fuzz of Plutonian."
